What Is Field Tracking?

Field tracking is the discipline of teaching your dog to locate and follow a human scent trail across natural terrain — grass, bush, varying surfaces — working through turns and aged trails to find a person or article at the end of the track. It is one of the oldest and most demanding dog sports, drawing directly on the dog's most powerful natural ability.

Every dog has the instinct. This program develops it into a reliable, structured skill — building your dog's drive, focus, and independence on the track, and your ability to read your dog and handle the line correctly.

Why Tracking?

Mental Stimulation

One hour of tracking is more mentally tiring than a full day of physical exercise. It satisfies a dog in a way most activities simply cannot.

Teamwork & Bond

Tracking requires the handler to read their dog and trust its nose completely. The result is a partnership built on genuine mutual communication.

Confidence Building

Dogs that track develop real confidence — they are given a job they can succeed at independently, which changes their whole outlook.

Competition Ready

The program follows structured levels that prepare dogs and handlers for tracking trials if that is a goal.
